Day 8 - my garden ha

I have three pictures I'm kind of excited about tonight. I noticed the other day that my Gerbera daisy has some flowers growing. What's so special about that, you ask? Well, Gerbera daisies are supposed to be annuals, and this plant is three years old! And still giving me flowers! It's certainly not anything I'm doing - not with my black thumb. I'll give credit to a hardy plant (thanks Lowe's!) and living in a very moderate climate.

The second picture is of my gorgeous Evey. If you know me, you are probably surprised that I haven't put up a picture of one of my three dachshunds yet. I'll put up the first tonight (of many, I'm sure!). Evey was outside with me, "helping" me decided what to shoot. Isn't she gorgeous?

And the final picture is of our azaleas. I was practicing depth of field, and focusing on tiny parts of the frame, when I heard the sound of bees buzzing. I've tried to catch bees before, but usually they move too fast. And seeing a bee flying towards you in a zoom lens is kind of scary! But today I got lucky, and was able to capture him (her?) in great detail. You can even see all the pollen on the bee's legs! I've cropped the picture pretty tight, so you'll see a good bit of noise (that's the downside of a 6mp camera). The picture still looks ok otherwise though.
